Killington, Vermont
Adventure Center

Okay, so I got a job in the big VT this summer, and I also got a digital camera so I could take pictures...and stuff. My second weekend here, I went with a few friends to Killington, Vermont for the day. Our adventures are feebly documented here, along with some great pictures of mountain views that I'm going to co-link with my Vermont pages. Enjoy!

All pictures are thumbnails. Click on them if you want to see a bigger and better picture, under 112k.

First, we went to Pico Mountain at Killington.

Up the lift.

I've lived in green places all my life, but the spring here in the mountains of Vermont is greener than anything I've ever seen. Maybe it's just the fact that there are always mountains surrounding your vision with 240 degrees of green all the time, but I do like the foliage.

Here is Vikram and Phil, enjoying the sunny ride up the lift to the top of the mountain, where Vik's mortal enemy, the Alpine Slide, awaits.

This is the end of the Alpine Slide. The ride consists of a plastic sled with wheels, runners, and brakes (very fast, moving, and not moving, respectively) on a concrete track. The guy at the top said that there is at least one accident every day they're open, so this ain't no little kid's ride. If you never use your brakes, you will launch yourself off the track, or at least wipe out and have your sled ride you down the rest of the way.

Here is Venkatesh making it safely down the slide. Quite a rush, we all thought--even Vik, who ended up leaving a few patches of skin halfway up the mountain!

Next, we went over the the Killington Adventure Center, stopped by the waterslide for a quick dip (Venky in this picture), and headed over to the gondola.

The gondola was quite a bit faster than the lift over at Pico mountain, but the chair we rode in was also windowed, so we didn't get the breeze we had gotten before. This picture was taken with my hand stuck out the window--not too bad for an amateur, eh?

Here is Venky again--I guess he just gravitates toward cameras. I know for sure that he always manages to take 10 pictures to my 1, so there must be something tying this together!

Another hand stuck outside the gondola. I just can't help but take pictures of all this great scenery, even if it means weird body contortions...
