{"id":1297,"date":"2013-05-28T06:32:44","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T12:32:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/?p=1297"},"modified":"2013-05-28T08:03:46","modified_gmt":"2013-05-28T14:03:46","slug":"stuffed-animals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/2013\/05\/28\/stuffed-animals","title":{"rendered":"Stuffed Animals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zeke went to sleep last night for the first time in a toddler bed (crib with one missing side).\u00a0 I only heard him thud to the floor once, and by the time I got there he was quietly crawling back into bed.\u00a0 I told Sarah that he did have a slight advantage over his brothers, who would fall onto cold oak hardwood instead of soft warm carpeting!\u00a0 The rest of the night was was pretty uneventful, with the exception of the tucking-into-bed phase.\u00a0 Zeke was really distressed about the whole process, crying with lip quivering, we couldn&#8217;t figure out why he was so anxious.\u00a0 Finally I let him show me what was upsetting him.\u00a0 He grabbed his new stuffed froggy, slid out of bed, grabbed my hand, and walked into the hallway.\u00a0 There he gave a big speech and sat froggy down on a duffel bag before turning around and heading back to bed.\u00a0 Turns out the little guy was a bit freaked out about sharing his pillow with a strange beady-eyed stuffed frog.<\/p>\n<p>That little episode reminded me of how Titus and Asher interacted with their stuffed animals.\u00a0 I think it took upwards of 3 years to convince Titus that stuffed animals were good&#8211;now he just puts up with them.\u00a0 I think the most mileage we ever got out of stuffed animals was the process Titus used to go through to pick either his &#8220;curly&#8221; puppy or &#8220;soft&#8221; puppy before going to sleep.\u00a0 Asher first went through a phase where he loved his stuffed hippo to death.\u00a0 Then when he started to need fewer naps and Sarah had to take hippo away from him because Asher and hippo would spend nap time chatting, Asher proactively decided that hippo talked too much and kicked him out of the bedroom during the day.\u00a0 Finally he would get so distressed when hippo fell out of bed at night that he proactively put hippo in the corner so that he wouldn&#8217;t have to worry about any late-night rescue attempts.<\/p>\n<p>Funny boys!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zeke went to sleep last night for the first time in a toddler bed (crib with one missing side).\u00a0 I only heard him thud to the floor once, and by the time I got there he was quietly crawling back &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/2013\/05\/28\/stuffed-animals\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6,2,7],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-1297","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-asher","category-titus","category-zeke"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1297","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=1297"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1297\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1300,"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/1297\/revisions\/1300"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=1297"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=1297"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/fredman.org\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=1297"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
