Birthday Weekend Lessons Learned

Here are a few lessons learned from birthday weekend:

1. Parents of three kids perform better at Chuck E. Cheese video games with one hand than two.  Sarah’s best score at baseball was when Zeke was standing on the ball platform with her holding him around the waist, while Zeke and I set the daily football record together with him standing in the ball hopper chucking balls over the plexiglass together.

2. On Sunday, Titus overheard Sarah say that we could get a right-sized hat at Target and chimes in, “Can we not go to Target today?” Please Mom, if one day of the year could be Targetless…

3. Recipe to get to the front of a 15 car line for an oil change: cram 3 boys with carseats and boosters in the back of an Impala and have them wait in the car for 10 minutes.  Roll down all the windows as you talk to the service desk guy.  Then spill all three of the boys into the waiting area–in and out in less than 1 hour!  Actually, the service was pretty impressive, and we didn’t break anything that I noticed…

4. Finally, I think Titus has the most fun of any kid that I’ve met just sauntering around his birthday party, watching his friends have fun.  He required no princely favors or special treatment.  He happily offered to build his Lego car out of one set of wheels. He cheered the loudest during the Lego spoon races. Fun time!
