There will be no pictures on this blog post–mostly because I’m not crazy enough to bring a camera or cell phone with me and 3 boys in a canoe. So you’ll have to settle for word pictures instead. Titus, Asher, and Zeke took me canoeing on Beebe Lake yesterday. The wind was whipping and jet skiers made our lives pretty interesting. I have to say that I’m a sucker for adventure–the trip was fun, but I didn’t really wake up until I realized that it was going to be impossible to get back to our landing/car with me sitting in the back and the boys up front! In the end, we figured it out. Here are the different configurations we used, front to back:
Titus – Asher – Zeke – Dad
Titus – Zeke – Asher – Dad
Asher – Zeke – Titus – Dad (this one was by far the worst!)
Titus – Zeke – Dad – Asher (finally, the perfect arrangement! Zeke and I shared the bottom of the canoe. I got wet, and it was tough to stretch my arms out far enough to paddle, but the weight balance was finally even!)
We got to talk about private property, public access, tubing, why we didn’t use/own a motorboat, wind, waves, fishing, steering, how to live on an island, and a bunch of other things. We even dropped a fishing line in the water every once in a while. It’s fun to have adventures together!
