Photography Special Project This is my special project for the photography class I'm taking this semester. It involves taking digital photographs and tweaking them to make them look better, different, or odd. I've included fairly detailed explanations on the steps I took to manipulate each image, so feel free to read along, or just look at the before and after comparisons. All pictures are thumbnails. Click on them if you want to see a bigger and better picture, under 1M. |

Pictured Rocks is one of the nicest places for scenery and relaxation. This initial picture of the beach turned out very drab and gray compared to how I remembered it.
|
This was a prime example of how much levels helps a photograph out. This picture was taking up the upper 3/4 of the spectrum, leaving the bottom 1/4 unused and greatly missed. By simply bumping the layers to take up the whole range, the photograph was greatly improved. To finish the job, I used curves to warm up the sand a little, selectively lightened the trees and enhanced the reddness of the pictured rocks in the background. |

In the end, the beach changed from a drab, snowscape-like scene to a beach that begs for a frisbee and iced tea.
