To celebrate Uncle Paul’s birthday on Saturday, we had lunch and gift-opening at a restaurant and then went straight home without birthday cake (to limit child sickness exposure). You should know that one of Titus’ favorite foods is birthday cake, and he had been looking forward to sharing cake with Uncle Paul for a while. In the car ride home, we had this conversation:
Titus: Daddy, did Uncle Paul eat all his cake?
Me: No, they’re going to eat cake right now, and we’re going home to take naps!
Titus: Daddy, did Uncle Paul eat his cake himself?
Me: What do you mean?
Titus: Did Uncle Paul eat his cake himself, and Uncle Peter give his cake to us? (Peter’s birthday celebration was in mid-February. We had cake.)
Sorry Uncle Paul…I think I just cost you some major nephew points. Maybe Peter can make it up to you by whipping up a cake you can share with Titus at our next family get-together!
I think Paul is going to have to whip up a cake to fix this problem:).
Haha!! I love how his memory works – and that birthdays are already so associated with cake for him 🙂
