This past Friday-Sunday, Sarah was out of town and the boys were stuck with Daddy (On Monday Auntie Alyssa and Ollie gave them a break).
My goals for the weekend were simple: Enjoy the outdoors, run the wheels off the boys, and avoid making any other goals for the weekend! Here’s my breakdown of the weekend.
Conclusions:
- Thanks to the woods nearby our house, we will learn if either of our boys has a resistance to poison ivy (or as Titus calls it, “Nivey”) by the end of the summer.
- The best kids-eat-free restaurant deals are CiCi’s Pizza (total bill: $6), Qdoba (total bill: $9), and Denny’s. CiCi’s price will increase by 60% once Titus is 4; Qdoba actually has a one-for-one deal, but I managed to wrangle it into two free kids meals; and we didn’t get a chance to try out Denny’s.
- The house stays cleaner if you only use it for sleeping.
How I appreciate Sarah more after this weekend:
- She feeds the kids well. For some reason, adding broccoli to a meal of tuna fish sandwiches is a lot of work! A sub-point: this includes her efforts to keep the grocery bills low.
- She talks to our children. During lunch on Sunday, I realized that we had been sitting in complete silence for almost 10 minutes. I hadn’t been keeping the running narrative that she usually keeps, and after 2 days our boys forgot how to talk.
- I’m tired! And I didn’t even touch the laundry…
Nice research conclusions, Andy… 🙂 I can definitely empathize on the talking one – as much as I love to talk, it’s amazing how fast you can run out of things to talk about! Bless Sarah for sure!
Great run-down of the weekend – it sure looked like the three of you had a fun time together! I would like to confirm the fact that the house was amazingly clean, including the mopped kitchen floor when I arrived on Monday morning. And I concur that you have a great wife:).
