The Great Flood of 2010

Last night we had a good, hard rain that led to one of the best street floods we’ve had since moving here.  Down the street by the drain, the water came up to mid-thigh of a neighbor.

Here are some pictures of  what our neighborhood does when we get a street flood.

Asher didn’t like riding in the tub-boat idea so much, but Titus thought it was a good idea (as long as he could push instead of ride).

Titus “crossed the river” once the water had gone down 6″.  Asher decided to give it a go, too.

Mr. Shane, the local celebrity, attempts to drive the whole street.  He turned around at the 3/4 point!

Wow! You guys sure got a river. Our backyard used to flood. My sister and I would take out our sled as a boat and use shovels as paddles. Only problem…the sled didn’t float once we got on! Looks like the boys had a fun time.

Does Mr. Shane always try to drive the street? That looks like so much fun!

  3. Andy says:

Yeah, Mr. Shane likes any chance he gets to take the truck out and see how deep the water is. After turning around because it was too deep, he went around the other way and tried the street from the south!
