I was driving the boys back home from the pool on Tuesday, and Zeke asked if we could regularly schedule some fun every Tuesday (as he put it, we usually have fun together on Saturdays and Sundays, but not always during weekdays–guess I need to work on that)…
I decided to tease him a little, and said “no”, we can’t ever have fun on Tuesdays.
At this point, Titus and Asher joined in the conversation. I think they sensed an opportunity for fun slipping away, and they sided with Zeke. What followed was a fun illustration of how 3 different boys handle persuasion.
First, Titus lead the charge by taking a vote of the people in the car to decide whether or not we should have fun on Tuesdays. The fun crowd won. I told him this was a dictatorship, not a democracy, and that while I appreciated the input from the boys, I get to make the final decision.
Zeke quickly jumped in to say that he planned to wait until I was at work and to ask Mom if we could schedule fun on Tuesdays.
Then Asher quickly followed by pointing out that I had just paid for a month long pass to the pool, and that we should go back as often as possible, since the cost difference between a month long pass and one night of swimming (which we had just finished) was $25.
We went swimming again Thursday. Guess they are pretty persuasive!
