It doesn’t get much better…

This week our neighbors have been doing the most amazing thing ever…really, it is absolutely fabulous.  Are you sitting down for this?!  They are…getting their driveway redone!!  Yes, you heard right, the driveway has been dug up, filled with gravel and covered in tar!  Both my boys have spent the better part of Monday and today in this position…standing on the couch, staring out the window, watching the dump trucks, digger, roller, grader and who knows what else.  It truly doesn’t get much better than this =)

I knew it was coming…

Yes, I have known for a while that it would be anytime now that Asher would go from 2 naps to 1 and part of me was even looking forward to it so that we had some larger chunks of time during the day to do some different things.  Well, it appears that the time may be here and I’m actually mostly sad about it right now.  I know we’ll figure out a new routine soon but for now I am grieving the loss of what I call the “sacred nap time.”  This picture is how I found Asher after helping him try to nap for 45 minutes this morning…didn’t so much work =)

Mission Completed!

This weekend I achieved a new goal…I finished my first 1/2 marathon!  12 weeks ago my good friend Abby inspired me (she ran Grandma’s marathon!) and I started a training schedule that got me to Saturday’s goal…13.1 miles.  Now I know that it’s only a half and not the whole 26.2 but I’m feeling pretty good about it and most of all am glad that my kids can see me striving to be healthy…a goal that I do better at some times and not as at good others.  Not sure if I’ll ever choose to tackle this goal again but I’m definitely glad that I did this time…even if I am still hobbling around like I’m 80 =)

Mile Pace – 9:35

Finishing Place (for females) – 190/487

Overall Finishing place – 548/962

Ahva!!

You may be sick of hearing this, but we are so excited to have Auntie Alyssa, Uncle Paul and Cousin Ollie back in town!  Last week we got to see Oliver 3 times!  On Sunday evening Alyssa came over to scrapbook with me and when Asher saw her he immediately said “Ahva?” (his pronunciation of Oliver) and put his hands up, wondering where his friend was.  It was so cute.  I should say that he did ask for Paul too =)  Then when we were out for lunch on Monday we saw a little one year old at TGIFridays and from the back Asher was so certain it was “Ahva” and then was so sad when the boy turned around and it wasn’t his cousin after all.  I’m very much looking forward to all the fun things that those two cousins will do and get into in the coming years =)

Nightmares

At 6am

Titus screams “stop it!” and goes back to sleep.

At 7:30 am

Titus:  There was a monster in the corner over there and I told it to go away and he did.

Me:  Monsters are just pretend, remember Titus?

Titus:  No Mommy, this one was real.

I’m very much not a fan of nightmares and so sad that Titus is experiencing them some but amazed that he remembers his “Go Away Big Green Monster” book  (it teaches kids to tell the “monster” to “go away”) even in his sleep =)
