Book Worms =)

Yesterday was a bit of a dreary day and so we mostly stayed in (except for our trip to Target where the power went out and we were stuck in complete darkness!).  I know my boys like to read but yesterday it was like I had to beg to do any other activity…and really, why would I do that?!  So, Titus thought it would be a fun challenge to make a big tower of all the books we read during the day yesterday.  Today is dreary as well but we’re off to a play date with Tyler and Miss Casey.

Hmmmm…what to do?

Went spent some time today at the new Splash Deck at our YMCA.  The boys had fun for the most part and Titus had a good time playing catch with another little boy he met there.  I, however, left with a little parenting puzzle I’m open to suggestions about.  Here’s the scenario:  Titus and his new friend were playing catch with our beach ball and when it went into the grass, they quickly ducked under the “caution” tape that is still up because they haven’t even gotten it taken down with it being so new.  I still figured it would be good for Titus to respect the tape even if it wasn’t an actual danger to him so I asked him to stay on the other side of it and he complied pretty quickly.  The other little boy stayed in the grass and began pulling on the caution tape until he ripped it.  Titus sat there rather patiently and slightly irritated because the boy was still holding his ball and he knew I wasn’t going to let him go and retrieve it.  The boy’s Mom (who I have never met) was on her lawn chair reading and not aware of what was happening.  I never know how to address things with Titus when I ask him not to do something that another child is being allowed to do.  It certainly wasn’t a big deal today but it did get me thinking that I wish I had a good way to handle similar issues for the future.  Any wisdom fellow parents??

15 months

Today we took Asher in for his 15 month visit.  Thought I’d pass along his current stats:

Height:  35 1/2 inches (>97%)

Weight:  27 lbs., 12 oz. (75-90%)

It seems that the trend is that he goes a little further up on the charts for height and a little futher down for weight with each visit…it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up when he levels out a bit more.  All else is “just perfect” as our doctor likes to say.  He got two shots and seriously didn’t even make a squeak or shed a tear…obviously my kids didn’t get my wimpiness to pain =)  Now it’s time to figure out what we want to do with the rest of our day.

Wishing Summer Lasted Forever

As I said yesterday, it seems that everyone is talking about the summer nearing an end and the fall changes starting up.  Well, let it be said that we are NOT READY!!!!  I have made it my official goal to take advantage of every possible minute of summertime left.  So, today we went to the park this morning for fun with Titus’ ECFE friends and their moms and then tonight we went back to the park to enjoy an outdoor brass concert and more playtime.

Asher Walking!

2521

Asher is walking!

This post is a little late (video taken in July). Asher now covers most rooms on foot instead of hands-and-knees or bear-crawling. Last night, Asher spent most of the time walking around the backyard. He also made two continuous long walks from the far side of the living room into the kitchen, avoiding a number of toy land mines along the way!
